As we step into 2026, the Forbes Group proudly celebrates a landmark achievement: 100 years since our founding in 1926.
Our story began in 1926 when Frederick Donald Forbes turned a passion for early electronics into a trusted local service repairing electrical appliances for his community. That entrepreneurial spark laid the foundation for what has grown into the national organisation it is today. While the business began in the domestic sphere, his philosophy- that service matters and people matter- has shaped every chapter of our evolution.
Over time, and under the leadership of his sons Malcolm and Stuart Forbes, the business expanded significantly, eventually forming two aligned pillars: Forbes Rentals, supporting households across the UK, and Forbes Professional, delivering fully managed rental solutions to organisations nationwide.
Today, Forbes Professional supports a broad range of sectors, including:

- Hospitals & Healthcare Providers
- Universities & Education Institutions
- Hotels, Hospitality & Leisure
- Housing Associations & Managed Accommodation
Despite its evolution, the business remains proudly family owned. Members of the third generation work across varied roles within the company, supporting the continuity of values established in 1926.
Stuart Forbes, Chairman, shares his perspective on the milestone:
